Someone asked me if it would be quicker to make these in a mould?
It would be far quicker, however these pieces are inspired by seeds and one of the things that I liked best about them was that they are all uniform, with qualities that make them recognisable as a species, yet they are not exactly the same and it is this quality that I want to bring out in this group, so making each one individually seems the right way to go about it. I’m making these pieces upside down with slightly pointed bases, which will become a splitting seam bursting with new life.
