Smoothing the surface.

Today I have been smoothing the join marks out of the clay with my fingers and thumbs. The clay is very dry at the base now ( it needs to be- to be strong enough to hold itself up) so it’s something of an exfoliating experience!

This is hard work and a bit awkward, but I need to do it all today before it dries further.

The thumbprint recognition button on my phone no longer knows it’s me!

I smooth the surface with a steel kidney. The top needs to be shaped but I am waiting for it to dry and contract. This will add to the air pressure inside which is supporting it at the moment.
