Finished…for now.
Yesterday I tried three times to turn this piece over and failed three times. Each time I try I risk it cracking or becoming miss-shaped and so,much to my annoyance I had to find someone to help, thanks lots Dave. That will teach me to use an extra bag of clay!
It is important to apply the slip before the clay dries out too much so I went out last night to complete the job. I love to use slip as it is made from clay which, when fired, fuses to the surface becoming integral to the body. This creates a surface which is durable and can withstand frost and harsh weather.
Slip feels soft and beautifully tactile, especially when sponged on as I do, bearing in mind that every mark that I make will harden and be there forever.
Finished! however……
